APAD ASSISTED CYCLING SYSTEM

// ABOUT APAD

Engineering around
human asymmetry.

APAD began with a simple problem: two legs do not always contribute equally, yet conventional cycling systems often treat them as if they do. Our work brings sensing, adaptive control and connected data into cycling platforms for rehabilitation, performance and research.

PERFORMANCEAPADRECOVERY
THE APAD IDEA

Two sides.
One adaptive system.

APAD is built around the relationship between the rider, bilateral measurement and responsive control—not around a single aggregate number.

LEFT / PERFORMANCE RIGHT / RECOVERY
OUR DIRECTION

From research prototype
to a two-platform ecosystem.

APAD research has demonstrated asymmetric torque assistance and instrumented cycling measurement. Today, the product direction extends that foundation into two distinct experiences: an upright performance platform and a supported rehabilitation platform.

01

Measure each side

Instrumented cycling can reveal force, power and left/right contribution instead of reducing a session to one total output.

02

Respond intelligently

Adaptive assistance and resistance create a path toward sessions shaped around the rider rather than a fixed symmetric demand.

03

Connect the session

APAD's product vision links ride-level information with longitudinal review for training, clinical oversight and research workflows.

RESEARCH FOUNDATION

Built from measurable biomechanics.

19–40%Target-leg pedal-force reduction

Reported across three assistance/intensity conditions in the published APAD prototype study with healthy participants.

ICC ≥ 0.70Reproducible biomechanical variables

Reported for instrumented cycling measures across repeated incremental and constant-load sessions in subsequent research.

2Purpose-built platform directions

Performance for active cycling insight; Recovery for supported rehabilitation and connected care.

Research findings describe studied prototypes and protocols and should not be interpreted as established clinical efficacy for every APAD configuration or patient population.
